What Is a Molded Bra?
A molded bra is made with cups that have been shaped during production and retain their form when the bra is not being worn. Unlike seamed cups, which create shape through several stitched fabric panels, molded cups are formed as a single continuous cup. Depending on the design, they may be firm and structured, soft and flexible, or made from lightweight spacer fabric.
Molded and moulded are two spellings of the same term. “Molded” is commonly used in North American product searches, while many European lingerie brands use “moulded” in their descriptions.
Molded Does Not Always Mean Padded
Molding describes how the cup is constructed, while padding describes the material or volume added to it. Some molded bras contain foam or light padding, but others use thin fabric, spacer material or unlined molded mesh. If you want additional cushioning or volume, explore our padded bras.
